Jim Thompson

Jim is an experienced researcher and talented investor with 22 years of investment experience, trained in the deep value style. He joined the Cundill team in February 2009 as Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Investment Team Lead. Before joining Cundill, Jim was Vice President of Southeastern Asset Management, Memphis, Tennessee and London, England from 1996 to 2007 and was integral in the management of Longleaf Partners International.

From 1994-1995 Jim was VP at Salem Investment Counselors, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; from 1991-1993 he was Director of Research at Wilmington Capital Management, Wilmington, Delaware; and from 1987-1990 he was Senior Analyst at Wachovia Bank and Trust Co., Winston-Salem. Jim earned a BA from the University of North Carolina, an MBA from the University of Virginia and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
